Welcome to Nittany Lights

Nittany Lights is an interactive outdoor lighting workshop, held every other year at the University Park campus of Penn State. Students are teamed up with lighting professionals to create concepts for illuminating a small portion of the campus. The first part of the workshop involves brainstorming ideas, and the second part involves mocking-up light fixtures and other equipment to bring those ideas to life. The event is capped off with a banquet and nighttime tour of the sites, where each team can show off their creation to the larger group. Past events have also included other activities such as inspirational speakers, campus lighting tours, and vendor product displays. Nittany Lights is open to all interested individuals, and often features students from the Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Theater programs.
